One of the most dangerous places on Earth
,
Lake Nyos
in northwestern
Cameroon
sits atop a volcanic source.
Early evening Aug. 21, 1986, a cloud of deadly CO2 erupted from the lake surface, killing an estimated 1,700 people and 3,000 cattle.
. Now people are trying to

“Mamase mamasa mamamakusa” or “Mamaku mamasa makumakusa”?
Michael Jackson is sued for copyright infringement – again – by Cameroonian singer Manu Dibango (Flash

Afro-Celtic music
inspired by the
Baka
, pygmies living in the Central African rainforest of
Cameroon
.
Rivers
running through the
rainforest
are one of the
alluring
Bakas'
favorite instruments
, the
water drum
. Highly inventive and constantly changing, the vocal polyphony and the polyrhythmic sounds of hands and
drums
are
prodigious achievements
which astonish modern composers.
