Eliza Skinner is well known in New York improv comedy circles for her work with Glennis McMurray in I Eat Pandas, the musical improv duo that does in an hour "what it takes Andrew Lloyd Weber YEARS to do ... crap out a musical from start to finish." The duo have had a tough time getting a TV deal (language NSFW), but Eliza's Internet fame has been growing. In videos from her one-woman show Shameless!, she "puts raw, repellent desperation front and center" as an overbearing mother of a freshman college student and a desperate, ditzy club girl.

Maybe you saw Minesweeper: The Movie. It's typical of Elephant Larry'
s sweet, savvy sketch comedy. If you like the parody preview genre, don't miss out on Gummi Bears: The Movie. If you don't, try the short film "Baby, Fix That Fusebox!" or perhaps Tall Cop, Short Cop, which is directed by none other than John Landis. My personal favorites are WHIT Radio and the audio (and stage) sketch Francophone. And guess what? If you live in LA, you can see them for free tonight at the Comedy Central Stage.

"What are they talking about?" Was it just an April Fools' joke? Are they really gonna end Red Vs. Blue: arguably the most successful machinima series ever? Will Blood Gulch be silent of one-liners and snide comments once more, or is this a blatant attempt by Rooster Teeth to drum up interest in their 100th episode? Considering the fact they started it four years ago on April Fools Day, it's really hard to tell. (surprise! no youtube links!)

40 years ago, the Vicious Cycles motorcycle club assaulted a construction worker before taking to the road. Fortunately, filmmakers Chuck Menville (father of voice artist Scott Menville) and Len Janson were on hand to film the gang's misdeeds.
Menville and Janson's picture would ultimately become part of a trilogy, with Blaze Glory and Sargent Swell of the Mounties produced wit similar eye-catching style.
Decades later, the filmmakers' work would be echoed in another tale of conflict, in addition to a product-themed homage to more recent hipster subculture.

Mediocre Films consists of films which are... mediocre, hence the name. Night of the Zombie. Batty Bat-Bat. Gorgeous Tiny Chicken Machine Show. Granted, it's not LG15 but I think that's what I like about it most. These short subject films are made by some guy named Greg, with help from other people whom you may have never heard of before. Occasionally they also feature a guy named Adam whom you might recognize but you may not be able to recall from where. It's funny. Well. I liked it. My girlfriend didn't. She said they were mediocre; to which I said, "exactly!" Sheesh. Women.

Fans of the BBC version of The Office take note: in 2006, Microsoft hired Ricky Gervais & Stephen Merchant to make a pair of faux training videos for the UK Microsoft headquarters, with Gervais reprising his David Brent role. Both videos are now up on iFilm, and are pretty damn funny (if you're amused by the Brent schtick, which I am).

Molvania banned from Eurovision contest...again. After failing in 2004 with his Elektronik – Supersonik (prev.) ZLAD! tried again with his darker I am the Anti-pope (video) which was rejected because "Satanism has no place at Eurovision." Zlad! responded, speaking backwards through a hooded translator, "In Molvania, this is one of our most loved children’s stories." Anyone presently surfing the net at work may appreciate Powerloafing w/ Cubicle Carl. This miniature sitcom about a guy who goofs off takes place entirely in a cubicle – an admittedly thin premise that delivers more comedy than expected, with the current episode placing that cubicle on the Starship Enterprise. It’s co-produced by an Emmy award winning comedy writer, (Mr. Show, Chris Rock Show, Mad TV) and a group of alt-comedians you'll recognize if you're a comedy nerd, including: supernerd Brian Posehn and supergeek Blaine Capatch. Interesting side note: it’s shot on a fake office set in a small apartment in North Hollywood. Everyone works for free, even the semi-celebs, and it’s Creative Commons,. NSFW, due to undeniable goof-off element.

The Wright brothers may not have been the first to fly (fascinating articles on other claims: Sir George Cayley, Richard Pearse and Gustave Whitehead) but they were pretty decent chaps, according to Kate Carew in her strange 1910 interview and delightful caricature. '“Your $7,500 flyers,” I said to the Wright brothers, “will prove very useful, I should think, to establishing a safe and somewhat aloof aristocracy.' Perhaps less well known is the brothers' role in defending America from the Spanish, and Fu Manchu (Comedy Quicktime links).

Bill Gates meets Napolean Dynamite. Microsoft has a history of doing little spoofs at their developer events (a couple years ago Gates and Ballmer did a send up of the GTI commercial and then there was The Matrix). While this one is a shaky camera capture (hopefully someone uploads the original), it's still pretty amusing and fun to watch Gates poke fun at himself. Of course, the unintended comedy videos involving Gates are often funnier.

Have you heard of Stella? This comedy trio has been doing nightclub shows in NYC and across the country since 1997, and they were involved with MTV's the State before that. Perhaps you've seen one of the members somewhere else: Michael Showalter as Lionel Prichard in Signs, Michael Ian Black as the host of Spy TV or as Phil Stubbs on Ed, or David Wain as the director of Wet Hot American Summer(Black and Showalter are in the movie). Together they have put together several video shorts available here. I highly recommend Bored, Whiffleball, and David's Cousin. College Reunion, Christmas Caroling, and Turkey Hunting are also hilarious, if you share their off the wall, perverse sense of humor. None of them are safe for work. Enjoy!
