If you loved the 80's cartoon and toys, you owe it to yourself to see a true rendering of the Joes as re remember them with an all-star cast:
The Ballad of G.I. Joe (SLFunnyorDie). With Julianne Moore as Scarlett and Billy Crudup as Zartan.

We'll Fight for Freedom, Wherever there's Trouble... CNN pundit Glenn Beck (as well as Canada's
National Post] criticizes G.I. Joe, or more appropriately, the in-production live-action movie [
IMDB] of the same name, and the manufacturer of the
multi-generational toy-line, Hasbro. Beck cited the IMDB page, which stated that GIJOE was a "European-based military unit known as Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity (G.I.J.O.E.), a hi-tech, international force of special operatives, takes on an evil organization led by a notorious arms dealer." He further added that the change amounted to JOE being ineffectual pansies, like the UN, and that "[He believes] some are trying to indoctrinate our kids into hating their own country, turning us into some one-world-government nightmare; hating America, turning it into a dirty word."

You may remember Eric Fensler from his audio overdubs of old G.I. Joe PSAs. Now he and Doug Lussenhop, hired by a band to shoot some DVD extras,
apply the same approach to raw video footage of slackers hanging out backstage, cops breaking up a post-gig crowd, etc.

Don't Have Enough Joe? After the recent info about the prototype G.I. Joe
going on sale (and not getting quite what was wanted) and the recent
POTUS Doll (action figure dammit!) I bebopped around and found a site that proports to be a force of good to get a G.I. Joe movie made. But can it really be for good when it has pages and images like
this?

Remixed G.I. Joe PSAs. Chicago filmmaker Eric Fensler has taken the "Knowing Is Half the Battle" PSAs that accompanied the 1980s G.I. Joe cartoon series and replaced the audio tracks with his own. The results are utterly hilarious. (Audio NSFW.) This site only has four, but there are more out there (details inside).

Journal of a new COBRA recruit. "I report to COBRA boot camp out in Utah in the middle of June. The recruiter guy said that everyone around there thinks it's where some crazy old Mormon lives with all his wives. I'm not supposed to say anything about it to anyone. I'm supposed to tell Mom and Dad that I'm going off to work for the phone company."

War Games? J.C. Penney,
eToys and
KB Toys all sell this scary "Military Forward Command Post with Two 12" Military Action Figures", despite the efforts of these
shocked consumers who call it an "atrocity". It does sort of look like GI Joes taking over Barbie's bombed-out Dream House... how real is
too real?

2" GI Joe Rifle Confiscated in Airport Security Crackdown Airport security staff confiscated a TWO-INCH plastic gun from a toy soldier. "They examined the toy as if it was going to shoot them . . . Then they asked me if there were toy grenades as well. I thought they were joking, but they weren’t smiling — they were deadly serious." Have the terrorists already won?

I found these FUTURE JOES (GI Joe 2010 series) while following a
link from
Rebecca Blood's site for the
Navajo Code Talker GI Joes. Perhaps it's showing my age, but I really want one. Of course, I also want some of the
Nisei soldiers so that I can reenact those POW camp scenarios that I used to subject my GI Joe to as a kid.
I know where the bodies are buried.
Hey, how come
The Grim Reaper Site didn't have questions about GI Joe?
Was your GI Joe a) home on leave when you were concieved b) 12" c) 12" with lifelike hair and beard and realistic scar d) 12" with Kung Fu Grip e) really an Action Man f) a little pussy 3" action figure g) $50 and from the "Collectible Collection"? h) dolls are for girls.
