Ersatz kosmische

Recently, a recording of electronic music allegedly created by an East German Kosmische Musik enthusiast recruited to help the DDR's Olympic training programme appeared. This recording turned out to be a hoax created by two musicians from Edinburgh, but, as such, it is the latest in a long line of ersatz krautrock to emerge in recent years. [more inside]

A tourist's guide to Belbury

Belbury is an English market town with a picturesque 11th century church, and some notable modernist architecture, including the Polytechnic College. None of which exist except in the constructed world of the Ghost Box record label, whose founder Jim Jupp records under the name Belbury Poly, and publishes the Belbury Parish Magazine. [more inside]

Not the Jim Corrigan kind of Spectre, mind you

The Invisibles and Hauntology: Amypoodle, a frequent contributor to the comics blog Mindless Ones (previously), has just completed an analytical appraisal of Grant Morrison's The Invisibles in light of Jacques Derrida's concept of hauntology. Critical analysis in terms of "ghosts", things that are both present and not present in a text, seems likely to be implicit as well in the forthcoming Supergods, Morrison's appraisal of superheroes as mythology.
