Meet Fedor8, the angriest film reviewer alive

In only three years, IMDb commenter Fedor8 has written over 800 reviews, the majority of which are the most vitriolic comments ever put online. He hates nearly everything he sees, yet he'll seemingly watch anything lying on the rack at the video store. His reviews are not mere critiques but annihilations. So full of contempt (particularly for the leftists who run Hollywood), he never misses an opportunity to take a cheap shot at an actor, director or intended audience member. He does have a few positive reviews, but they are so random you can't predict how he'll feel about any given flick. But he is clearly on a rampage, tearing down one film after the next, sneering all the way. If you can't get enough of his movie reviews, you can also read Fedor8's reviews of music, his tastes of which are as contrary and contradictory as his taste in film.

The work of these online reviewers may not merit their own special edition, but they're special in their own way. Doc Savage reviews 200+ items on Amazon, most of which he hates, unless they involve black women and/or Carly Simon. At Netflix, HV from Duvall is not nearly as prolific, but gets 5 stars for sublimely anfractuous English. And DJAkin over at IMDB has written nearly 500 reviews, although most of them read like Jackie Harvey's Mad Libs. He (or she) may not be the next A. O. Scott, but if you can find me a critic with a more sincere and unsnarked love of cinema, I'll eat my britches.

Watch this trailer and see if you can guess who made this movie. And if you check imdb, you'll also see that the one of the stars isn't shown or mentioned anywhere in the trailer or on the site. Interesting marketing tactic. I wonder if it will pay off.

IMDBPro Just in case you need more information than the Internet Movie Database provides, there's now a subscription version with advanced features like STARmeter and MOVIEmaker (billed as proprietary algorithms). Is Amazon about to take on Variety? Or is IMDB not selling enough videos with the click throughs?

You don't need Metacritic to know that Driven blows. But you might need it to learn that Dolly Parton's new album is a gorgeous return to her bluegrass roots, Rififi is a classic french thriller, and You Can Count On Me is getting more 10's than Mary Lou Retton.

IMDB Charging Actors/Actress for Pictures The Internet Movie Data Base has provided an invaluable service to millions of Web users over the years. But now, the IMDB sees fit to charge actors and actresses to put a small 'headshot' pic on their pages.

What next? Will IMDB start charging studios to list their films? For an example of a page without a headshot, try the gorgeous Keira Knightley's page. Not so good without the pic, huh?

IMDB follows Microsoft's lead: every new version makes it harder and harder to see the actual content you're looking for. I figure two more times around and they'll be down to three words per page that aren't navigation.
