Man Wants Church Donation Back A man, in the midst of a serious bout of depression, gives away almost his entire life savings, $126,000, to a local church. He later realizes that this was not the smartest thing to do. He asks the church for the money back. The church, not surprisingly, says they've already spent it and so he can't have it back.

tax your savings as a way to continue to stimulate consumption should
rates fall to zero. While opinions of

$70mil in US aid to Afghanistan in 1997 Per the CIA's very informative world factbook web site, in 1997 the USA provided "about $70 million in humanitarian assistance in 1997". I have a feeling that $70mil is a drop in the ocean to what may be spent on Afghanistan in the near future, though perhaps not in a manner to their liking.

Should all of America pay for Davenport? If a community has the ability to avoid a natural disaster and chooses not to, are the rest of us responsible? How many times. Apparently, Davenport benefits economically from the great view, unobstructed by a floodwall. Maybe it should use some of those benefits to clean up the mess?

$20 for you, $10 for Justin. Or whatever. Either way, I can't find the catch. Free money, and you don't even have to write a review of anything.
The way Bank of America has been dicking me around, I expect to transfer to an Internet bank by the end of the year. Although x.com is interesting and is giving away free money, I don't think this will be it. I'll probably wait until ETrade gets its act together with Telebank. If precedence is anything, I expect ETrade to give $100, United miles and a toaster to early adopters.
This is also the first one-letter domain that I'm aware of. (I lack the interest go try all 26 to find out.)

Paying for McDonalds drive-thru food without cash is the latest shameless marketing attempt to make things as "convenient " as possible. The sad thing is, what they're really trying to do is separate the notion of real money from "digital money" so you'll buy more stuff, thinking it's all monopoly money (credit card companies have built an industry on doing exactly this).
