Keith Olbermann receives phoney anthrax letter. "The New York Post may have just impeded an FBI investigation into terroristic threats." Why send anthrax to the media? (real or otherwise)

Let the fur fly. The New York Post's Page Six is the latest pillar of the 'Forth' Estate to take heavy damage from scandal. Like the Judy Miller fiasco of 2005, except with virtually zero ramifications upon things that actually matter, no one looks good here. The tawdry gist: Billionaire Sleaze-Bag set up Gossip Freelancer Sleaze-Bag -- who supposedly was offering to trade positive Page Six coverage for money. The Gossip Sleaze-Bag is probably screwed, but now the other wolves are going in for theirs and (seeing a chance to rally, somewhat, around their own) it's the Billionaire Sleaze-Bag that they'd most like to get a piece of.
The part about this that makes it all a Robert-Downey-Jr-movie-waiting-to-happen is that the story broke on the eve of Page Six editor Richard Johnson's wedding.
Ah, yes. That's the stuff.

Now it's officially a trend: Attacking the privacy of those who invade privacy (bottom of page) by publicizing their information. What's the verb for this going to be? I think "Barrying" should be a contender.

A Good Summary, albeit in the form of a NYPost Editorial, as to why Israel should ignore 95% of the criticism it gets regarding it's current policy towards negotiating withdrawal from the West Bank and Gaza. President Bush: are you listening?

2 students shot in MLK Jr. HS yesterday. "A gunman sneaked into Martin Luther King Jr. HS yesterday through a side door - evading 14 safety agents, two cops and metal-detectors - and shot and seriously wounded two boys headed to class, officials said. "
"The fact that the shooting occurred on King’s birthday was a "cruel irony," said [Manhattan Board of Education member Irving ] Hamer. King and the school stand for non-violence, he said, and "instead, we get a shooting."

"I became known as the first "cybersex fiend" Finally cleared and released Oliver Jovanovic in his own words in the NY Post: "...Thankfully Steve Dunleavy, a reporter for the New York Post, saw straight away that the whole prosecution was completely rotten. And he wrote that again and again until he finally had my named cleared...I believe in the police, I believe in the government and believe in the United States of America. But I need District Attorney Robert Morganthau or Fairstein, the outrageous self-promoter, to please explain how I did 20 months in prison, cost my family more than half a million dollars in legal fees, and got stabbed in the neck by some wacko while I was eating corn flakes. " Honest journalism by Mr Dunleavy and the NY Post in the noble pursuit of justice, or sly schemers boosting circulation as the tech bubble burst ?

Monsters Doomed To Rot In a Hellish ‘Dungeon' I was wondering where they would end up. Imagine expecting virgins and bliss dying a martyr for Allah, but ending up forgotten for the rest of your life in Florence, Colorado's very own Supermax in 7 by 12 foot cells, with 387 other inmates like Luis Felipe, leader of New York's Latin Kings street gang. Why does this give me such a curiously strong sense of satisfaction. And apparently it only costs the taxpaying public $ 100 per day per prisoner. What a bargain. How about abolishing the death penalty for all Islamic fundamentalist terrorists.

Lone Portland, Maine Taliban fighter carries sword around town. I can't tell if this is pathetic or a put on. Then again wasn't Cat Stevens supporting the bounty on Salmon Rushdie's head?

How Sleazy Sellers Rake in Big Bucks on the City's Suffering. When I saw this headline on the NY Post this morning I assumed that it was an article explaining the Post's marketing strategy. The Post put gratuitous photos of the WTC explosion on the front cover for a story about exposing salesmen who were making money from selling the photos. Good old Rupert!

Fundamentalism Reaches Fever Point on U.S. Soil. Extremism is spreading and is now affecting our very own. Or as Greta Garbo's famously didn't say "I vont to be alone!". The question is: do you?
