Sunday Morning Movie - A moving and fascinating documentary, Dark Days is on Google Video. Marc Singer lived in the tunnel, and started filming with the help of his fellow tunnel dwellers. Trivia here. Inevitable Wikipedia link here. The online video can't possibly do justice to the stunning black and white imagery, but it's worth seeing in any form. I'd encourage anyone to add this to your Netflix Queue, or get the DVD, which includes the director's commentary.

The Brooklyn Elite Checkers Club [flash] is just one of the stories on the recently released site, City of Memory - 'a public map that generates social interaction, personal expression, and collaborative storytelling'. Because it's so new it's a little short on content but in the future, when every street has a story, it should be all kinds of wonderful.

YouTube for an old generation, a new site by Rich Collier. New Yorkers may remember Rich from MetroTV's Subway Q&A, a show that placed Collier in the bowels of the NYC subway system accosting regular folk on camera. He also made some short segments for the non-denominational New Morning program.
