Fans of Thin Lizzy/Phil Lynott may be unaware of some recent audio-only you tubery. So, let me school you, as the kids say. Live versions: Opium Trail. Romeo and the Lonely Girl (cool slow version). It's Getting Dangerous. The Pressure Will Blow. Don't Play Around (soundcheck). Demos: Rockula. Waiting for an Alibi. Gay Boys (song from Phil's post-Thin Lizzy band Grand Slam). Got to Give it up. Finally, a live version of Dear Miss Lonely Hearts. I picked out some of my favorites, but there are more there for the curious. (And yes, I know the kids probably don't say "school you" anymore.)

The man behind the Wall of Sound

Arguments have ended in the murder trial of Phil Spector, renowned record producer and mastermind of the Wall of Sound. In December 2002 Spector welcomed Mick Brown of the Telegraph Magazine into his LA home, and gave his first major interview for 25 years. The interview was published on February 4, 2003; thirty-six hours later actress Lana Clarkson was shot dead in that same mansion.

And, last BUT NOT LEAST: This totally unexpected and rather bizarre TV spot, featuring one of the most ill-advised collaborations ever. EVER. Joan Baez and Phil Spector!! Doing "You've Lost That Loving Feeling". Phil's at the piano, and the TV studio big band is doing its best to recreate that Wall Of Sound, live! Amazing. (Oh, and yes, that's Donovan introducing them at the top of the clip.)

Profile of Phil Hansen - "Strokes of a Genius" - [Hansen] gives pointillism a modern twist. You might call it "kinetic fragmentism" — pointillism in motion. For instance, Hansen completed an on-camera piece of paint-dipped karate chops to reveal a portrait of martial arts legend Bruce Lee. Preferring to post videos of the process of his work on the internet instead of showing the finished product in galleries, Hansen shows the madness in the method in his amazing art.

Crypto guru getting blamed for his software. PGP writer Phil Zimmermann's hate mail goes a little something like this, "Phil -- I hope you can sleep at night with the blood of 5,000 people on your hands." If Phil is guilty of anything so is everyone who has ever used their credit card online, including Mr. Hate Mail.
