A new Radiohead track has leaked. Because of metadata in the leaked mp3, fans conjecture that a new EP, Wall of Ice, will be soon to follow. Or not Wall of Ice? Included in the metadata are these words, which are not song lyrics: i just wanted to reassure readers that following representations seeking confirmation that before your very eyes behind the wall of ice that the box is not under threat however they are set to remove other boxes in fact i have the list in front of me i went to a briefing on their plans and challenged them to tell me exactly what the cost would be they spoke in broad terms All of this really just begs this question: are Radiohead XKCD fans?

Omaha rockers Cursive are selling their new album for just $1... No wait, it's $2... $3... $4... WTF?? In yet another twist on the whole, name-your-price (Radiohead), fan-financed (Jill Sobule), take-shrooms-and-cruise-hollywood (Josh Freese) tiered pricing experiment being carried out by what's left of the music industry, Cursive are increasing the price of their new record by $1 each day until its "official" release. Given the popularity of sites like Did it Leak (and the corresponding file-sharing forums that I won't link to here) it seems to me like this is a pretty good way to reward well-intentioned but impatient fans who might otherwise resort to less honorable means of getting the latest stuff from their favorite bands. Or maybe it's just another hare-brained scheme that will only hasten the end of record labels as we know them. Either way, they got my $1... And that was after I already got my hands on the mp3s!

Number three is The Hood Internet vs. Chicago. Number two is Charles Hamilton's Crash Landed. Number one is a tie between Lil Wayne's The Draught is Over Part Six and some Kanye remixes called Sky High. Bonus mixtape not from the list: Jaydiohead - JayZ and Radiohead... in the same songs... Robert Hodgin does wonderful stuff with visualization [recently discussed in this excellent FPP]. To get you started, here's a Radiohead video that's been making the rounds. Hodgin's blog is full of wonderful examples, both musical (Goldfrapp — with lyrics, The Flashbulb) and non (earthquakes, butterfly wings, and that old chestnut, flocking birds). Often his posts include a few technical details — and here's a full-fledged how-to post if you're interested. Oh, and here's a pigeon with a fez. Enjoy!

When Maurice Martenot met Lev Sergeivich Termen in the early 1920's and heard his revolutionary new musical instrument the Theremin, he was inspired to create his own electroacoustic instrument , which he christened Ondes Martenot. Next year will mark the 80th anniversary of the first performance of this remarkable hybrid keyboard which, aside from its lovely and ethereal sound, is also aesthetically pleasing visually, with its handsome collection of multiple speakers. See and hear the instrument being played and explained in this video interview and demonstration by Jean Laurendeau, which closes with a lovely rendition of the theme from Star Trek. And, here's the instrument in use, live, alongside who else? Radiohead. More videos: Claude-Samuel Lévine in a performance of Messiaen's Feuillets Inedits, from Google video. What happens when you play two separate copies of Radiohead's "Kid A" exactly 17 seconds apart? According to some, it produces some amazing synchronization effects. Although some fans claim to have heard Thom Yorke say it was intentional, "Whether or not it was intentional to me seems beyond the point. Fact of the matter is that it actually 'kind of' works." If that doesn't float your boat, you can always just sync it up with The Matrix.
