At the time this was the devil's music for us, but we have learned to listen through the claps and distorted kicks and discovered that if you slow these really dark and heavy techno records down all the way to about 115 bpm, it suddenly makes them sound less frantic, ballsier and a lot sexier. Once upon a time, there were some Belgian men with souls of wax (warning: web designers will feel faint and then proceed to vomit), who were told that they had too many disc jockeys, just way 2 Many. They were known for creating bastards. And they helped an uptown girl visit a love shack, and they helped a woman who worked nine to five sound a little more funky than country (backup link). Soulwax , the Belgian hepcats have just completed their latest album. It appears it became something of an albatross. Very good link here detailing some of their trials and tribulations, also provides a little bit of an insight into the workings of the record industry (Is it still called the record industry?). I found it fascinating, not least because of their eclectic tastes.
