Wi-Fi vs. FM?

With Tungsten C - it's most powerful handheld ever (according to themselves) Palm is making some aggressive moves to turn its business around and brings wireless 802.11b-based connectivity to the Palm family of devices.
Microsoft, on the other hand, is to use FM radio waves for news, weather and traffic, etc - on your watch.
Is this a race or PDA technology diversity at its best?
...and here I'm sitting around with my stone age Visor.

this man bought a gamecube.

As much as I enjoyed the Blair Witch Project, one had to wonder why those silly kids didn't have a single mobile phone among them. A number of standard plot devices are becoming obsolete as a result of current technologies, while filmmakers are finding new ways to incorporate technology into their stories.

Apple releases a totally new ibook starting at $1300 dollars, they look like a cross between the sony SR series and the g4 powerbooks. Looks like a significantly more portable notebook than the old ibooks.

The last computer you'll ever own. With the entertainment industry pushing electronics manufacturers towards closed, proprietary hardware, how soon will we be limited to strictly "renting" media, serives, etc.?

The next must have tech gadget is on its way this fall. Sure it probably weighs 50 pounds, but it's just too damn sweet not to get.

In a perfect world , this would be in mass production. In black. With an espresso machine. I'm surprised I haven't heard of this earlier; most good, respectable geeks that I know would most likely kill for one of these.

Convergence baby! Sony has released a Minidisc Player/Recorder, MP3 player with USB connectivity, and PalmOS PDA, all wedged into one small unit. Wow, that's enough buzzwords to kill a horse...

It's even got a supersecret menu so that you can change region settings... not that I would *do* that, but... you know... if you've got friends visiting from Taiwan or something...

You'll note I didn't post the link until my order was confirmed. I'm all about sharing the love, but not at the risk of having the love backordered.
