Just in time for Valentine's Day, Scarleteen launches rad e-cards
for "hookups or friends with benefits, open or poly relationships, friendships, sexually exclusive relationships, exes turned friends, and even the love relationship one has with oneself." Art by Isabella Rotman

is a festival that probably pre-dates Rome, and which later became known as St. Valentine's day. It had everything; sacrifice, cake, nudity, spanking and a love lottery. What do we get? A card. If we are lucky. But, who was Valentine
? Did Chaucer
make the whole thing up? [more inside]

has implanted two rfid chips into his hands
to permit himself keyless access to his computer, car and home. He's also written a book
about the experience and the various rfid "toys" he's devised.
This Valentine's Day, he and his girlfriend expressed a "modern declaration of their affection for each other
, with implanted electronic chips that allow them unfettered access to each other's lives".
Interested in something similar? The company Amal used
is selling a kit. Though they don't actually recommend it for use with medical implants.
So, cool, crazy or inevitable?

"Stop talking about your fucking wedding."
...or, to paraphrase Boy George, "I'd rather have a good cuppa than a bad shag."
This year, celebrate or commiserate by sending an anti-valentine. Send it today, tomorrow, or any day you damn well please. This year, say it with bile.

Practice your romantic moves
and be ready for that special day. It may be Valentine's Day but everybody knows true love can only be found on Fat Tuesday. (18 days, people, 18 days!!) Here's some Friday...umm...Flash
fun. (SFW I think -- but maybe I just haven't scored high enough yet.).

Day may be a remant of the ancient Roman festival of Lupercalia
, in which "young men who were naked except for the skins of goats that had been sacrificed this day, ran from the Lupercal around the bounds of the Palatine . . . striking the women they met with strips of goat skin, to promote fertility."
This factoid resists my every attempt to add further comment.
