Snow on Cuba Mall in central Wellington Ok, so it snows all over the world, but here in Wellington, New Zealand, we are experiencing a once-in-a-lifetime cold snap with snow throughout much of the country. The joy of Wellingtonians experiencing snow in downtown Cuba Mall is beautifully captured here on video.

Nearly 100 years ago, on March 1, 1910, the deadliest avalanche in United States history struck the small town of Wellington, Washington. Ninety-six people died as a massive wall of snow struck two Great Northern trains stopped at Wellington to wait for the tracks to be cleared, rolling them nearly 1000 feet into Tye Creek and burying the victims under huge piles of snow, trees, and debris. 48Hours the New Zealand version of The 48 Hour Film Project was recently completed in Auckland and Wellington, and attracted over 130 teams. 116 teams managed to complete their films in the timeframe.
