Juu'nen hayain da yo!

"Designed to be understood easily, these training videos are meant for new players and for those who want to see what's new in Final Showdown." As part of their promotion for Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown, released June 5/6 for PSN and XBLA, SEGA created surprisingly good tutorial videos to ease new players into the gameplay system of the latest iteration of AM2's Virtua Fighter series. The following thread is in *massive* spoiler quotes

Portal 2 has finally hit the streets, and despite a somewhat rocky start with their controversial promotional ARG (previously), it looks to be a huge success. Interestingly for such a critically-acclaimed blockbuster, the title's core ideas steam from a pair of concept projects from student design school DigiPen: the original portal system from Narbacular Drop (video - download - previously) and the sequel's physics-altering gels from Tag: The Power of Paint (video - download - previously - previouslier). Combine these innovative ideas with some Lost-meets-Life After People level design, excellent voice acting, and top-notch writing, and it's easy to see why so many people called in sick this past week. But playing the game is just the beginning -- look inside for a collection of easter eggs, story theories, videos, and other goodies from the post-mortem. [more inside]

It's like watching two clowns eat each other.

By all accounts, it has outdated graphics, messy controls, and wild tonal shifts, though it is no longer quite as obviously Twin Peaks based as originally intended. Released in North America on the same day as Heavy Rain, very few people even in the video gaming world have heard of the budget horror/survival title Deadly Premonition. Yet outside of a savage IGN review, the few people who've picked up the game seem to genuinely enjoy it. Destructoid's Jim Sterling even gave the game a perfect perfect 10, defending the game with a combination of absurdity and trollish sincerity. (NSFW text in the Destructoid links. Violent imagery in the first link.)

"I definitely play more games I don't enjoy than games I do."

"She bought Jumper: Griffin's Story - one of the worst reviewed games ever in Xbox 360 history. The day Modern Warfare 2 was released, she spent all her time on Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. American Idol? She put the microphone in front of a speaker and played songs into it to ace the performances that much faster." The story of Kristen and her gamerscore addiction. [more inside]

"Report a la bug. (That's French for bug report)." Halo 3 Linkorama.

Halo 3: Easter eggs, including the excellent Red Vs Blue in-game dialog easter egg; the RvB Halo 3 beta initiation; 3D images and how-to (dig out your glasses); achievements, ranks, armor, skulls, and campaign scoring explained; Bungie's favorites (videos, pics, maps, game variants to download to your 360)... and that grenade stick.

BioShock, 2nd best game ever?

BioShock was released today for the PC and XBox 360. Why should you care? Well, it's the 2nd best reviewed game of the last 10 years, it's an interactive commentary on Objectivism, it features a great Art-Deco style and atmospheric sound design, and is the spiritual sequel to one of the best games of all time. If you still don't care, make sure to stay away from Big Daddy.

I tried to buy an Xbox 360 and God doesn't want it to happen.

Your media, everytime and everywhere

Tversity is the swiss army knife of the media servers. Allows to stream music and videos to many devices. Do you want to listen to a podcast on your PSP? And how about browsing Flickr photos on the Xbox 360? It can even be used to stream divx movies on the Xbox 360, converting it on-the-fly to wmv. Too bad it runs only on Windows. [via]

Will Xbox 360 games run nativly on Mac OS X w/ a G5?

Will Xbox 360 games run on Mac OS X w/ a G5? (via Slashdot) Looks like Xbox 360 games run natively on the G5. Macs, for a long time, have not been considered a platform that companies have been anxious to develop their games for. Looks like this is gonna change.
