These are gonna be as hot as those FREE WINONA shirts.

It all started with a t-shirt. When Tulane University art historian Thomas Bayer posted a list of thirteen reasons why Brad Pitt, whose local Make It Right Foundation builds post-Katrina homes in the devastated Lower Ninth Ward, should become New Orleans' next mayor (among them: New Orleans will become the magnet for conventions of professional women’s organizations worldwide. The warm glow of pink Cadillacs will illuminate our Southern nights. This mass of sensually charged femininity will attract male visitors eager to contribute their economic stimulus. ), a local entrepreneur whipped up a t-shirt designed to draft Brad. With many anxiously awaiting the end of Mayor Ray Nagin (Nagin's Last Day bumper stickers have popped up in town) and the Jolie-Pitts known for their New Orleans aid, the story's gotten legs. What is John Guilt?

Keep on Shrugging: apparently the planned film of Ayn Rand's much-beloved Atlas Shrugged -- a chief vehicle for her philosophy "Objectivism" -- is moving ahead. It's now planned as a trilogy and has a studio, a (draft) script, funding, and (tentatively) Angelina Jolie as Dagny Taggart (the star) -- she's apparently a big fan. For background, here's the Objectivism Mockery links page, including the brilliant, now-vanished "Objectifism."

It's raining cats and dogs

It's raining cats and dogs this summer! GEEZ! Pearl Harbor, Shrek, and The Mummy Returns are already in the theaters. This weekend we get Swordfish, Evolution, and even Atlantis: The Lost Empire in limited release. What's next? Oh nuthin. Just stuff Angelina Jolie's been kicking around, Eddie Murphy's little pet project, something Jay & Silent Bob tossed off in the shower, Stephen Spielberg's thoughtful adult film coupled with his token bloodfest for the kiddies... Final Fantasy, Planet of the Apes, Kiss of the Dragon, a painfully predictable looking sequel to American Pie, a predictable but funny-lookin' sequel to Rush Hour, and a predictable sequel to Scary Movie, and the ever present SO MUCH MORE! I skipped half the movies coming out but those are the highlights. Is this gonna be the best summer blockbuster festival ever thrust upon the world's populous, or are we true fans of cinema about to once again take it up the ass? Whatcha think?

Angelina Jolie puts Jay Leno in the hot seat.

Angelina Jolie puts Jay Leno in the hot seat. Did anyone catch this? Sounds like media cannibalism fun. Too bad I don't watch Leno.

Separated at Birth?

Separated at Birth? Angelina Jolie has been chosen to play Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider movie. I must say that from the neck up, she's actually a pretty good choice. (From the neck down, no woman alive measures up.)

The only problem is that Ms. Jolie is California, not England. I wonder how well she can do an English accent.

"Val Girl Lara" just doesn't make it.
