Class action CD lawsuitchecks mailed.

As Attorney General for the State of North Dakota, I am pleased to enclose payment for your claim in the settlement of the Compact Disc Minimum Advertised Price Antitrust Litigation.
Checks have gone out to people who "purchased prerecorded Music Products, consisting of compact discs, cassettes and vinyl albums, from one or more retailers during the period January 1, 1995, through December 22, 2000." Mine was for $13.86. I think I'll go buy an indie CD.

The comment period closes Monday morning (the 28th) so if you have an opinion, and we know everyone here does, email/snail mail/call the DOJ.

U.S. Supreme Court denies Microsoft's appeal.

U.S. Supreme Court denies Microsoft's appeal. Is anyone else surprised how long these U.S. v. Microsoft trials have gone on? Is there an end in sight? The longer the courts (and both parties) drag this on, the more moot this case will become.

Some people don't know when to keep their mouths shut.

Some people don't know when to keep their mouths shut. You'd think a judge of such long experience would know better. (Also this.)

I wonder if Microsoft's acquittal in the Bristol case is a bad omen for the DOJ.
