The New Zealand Net Awards have announced their finalists. Picked by a panel of people including Web saavy magazine editors, personal Web site operators, and tech-radio deejays, the NZ awards seem much more even handed, open, and real than the Webbies (albeit only for NZ sites...) And, as far as I can tell, they're doing it on almost no budget. Pretty impressive. Why doesn't this community start something like it?

The Oscars TM AMPAS will NOT consider any movie that was first shown on the Internet.
Looks like our firends at How Wrong Productions, the creators of "Jesus! The Semi-Animated Sorta-Movie!" have beenShafted.
Now they'll have to rent a theater for the sequel: "Jesus' Big Score", and then probably nobody'll show up.. cause they'll all be at The Schmolympics!

Did everybody else completely ignore this? Or am I the only one who didn't know that tonight is the 5th Annual Cool Site of the Year ceremony? Why do they even bother anymore?
