Friday Flash JavaScript Fun! Balldroppings (ha.) is a gravity-based game where balls drop at regular intervals from a particular point in the screen and you draw lines to make them bounce. The excellent part: every time the balls bounce off a line, they sing. Well, to be more precise, they emit a bell-like tone at a pitch that is somehow a function of velocity and/or height. Friday fun: The revamped Globulos! The French suite of cute, simple mini-games -- posted before -- has in its latest incarnation finally got rid of its annoying 15-minute limit for non-paying users. Now, simply register for free and bounce those Globulos! (You could play as a guest, I guess, but that would just be lame now, wouldn't it. Oh, and you can still buy Globbies if you want to give your Globulos a moustache or whatever.)

When did this ball go so wrong? As thousands of people get out their best clothes, spring for pricey tickets and head to DC for a fairy tale night of dancing at one of the 10 official Inaugural Balls, the Washington Post takes an amusing look at the decline of the once-glamorous event, which has now become a hideous, tacky ordeal complete with coat check riots, box wine (at the cash bar!) and phoned-in cameos by the exhausted First Couple. If you must go, here's some sage fashion advice. If you ignore wise counsel not to buy a fancy dress, make sure to register it to avoid the dreaded dress dupe.

Nicolás Guagnini has produced an art book entitled 77 Testicular Imprints. You can see an example here. Not everyone is impressed (scroll to #4). The paintings were produced with oil paint applied directly to the artist’s testicles and imprinted on various bound and ephemeral printed matter including: mainstream magazines such as Time and Life; art market staples such as Artforum, Art in America and Art News; exhibition and auction catalogues; rare magazines and artist’s books; personal letters; and lastly, on an assortment of original artworks, poems and studio notes by Vito Acconci, Simon Bedwell, Alejandro Cesarco and Dan Graham. Like Marcel Broodthaers’ eagles, the testicular imprints also delineate a critical archive, acting like stamps of inclusion. What Guagnini establishes through this process are the relationships between Patriarchy, Private Property, Power, Progress, Position, Packaging and Personality in twentieth-century art production.

This fun Japanese contact juggler's clip is proving popular lately, but he is not the first Japanese practitioner of the art to surface online. Here are several more highly entertaining Japanese contact juggler clips worth watching: one, two (starts about 1:06), three, four, five. (all via the highly entertaining Ministry of Manipulation's blog). Unlike traditional juggling, contact juggling focuses on an object keeping contact with the body and is often performed with single or multiple crystal balls. Hate to use a wikipedia link, but it seems to offer the most concise overview of the origin and various styles. Anyone here been to a "hicks-gone-wild" type of event? I've heard of backwoods "show us your tits" type festivals before, and I would tend to generalize them as isolated outbursts of the repressed (and very sexist toward women). This one seems to have a slightly different... um... bent.
