On October 1, 1993, Bill Hicks was scheduled to appear on The Late Show with David Letterman for the twelfth time, but his entire performance was removed from the broadcast -- the only occasion, up to that point, in which a comedian's entire routine had been cut after taping.
It will be shown for the very first time on David Letterman tonight and Bill Hicks' mother will be the guest.

Nice Bill Hicks video on google video. It's nice to hear such warm, life-affirming humor with all the cynicism these days.

Whay Would Bill Hicks Say? An essay contest that is attempting to channel a dead comedian. On the bright side, there are prizes and they encourage you to rant.

A very good tribute from the Guardian regarding the life and legacy of philosopher-comedian Bill Hicks.
It is compelling and significant that the final words on Hicks's last record, Rant In E-Minor, are a prayer: "Lift me up out of this illusion, Lord. Heal my perception, so that I may know only reality."

Tonight, I found a bevy of Bill Hicks mp3s. God, he was hilarious. He was more a truth-teller than a comedian. Luckily, there's still people out there that dig him too, including the great site at BillHicks.com. Among the many cool things at that site is a huge archive of audio clips of his standup and interviews.
