Tightening The Net
Telstra and Optus, two of Australia's biggest ISPs, will start censoring the Internet next month.
The two companies will block more than 500 websites.

I was so much older then. I’m younger than that now
Bob Dylan turns 70 next Tuesday. Why not start the party early by listening to
2ser's
annual
Bob Dylan Birthday Marathon
on Saturday? It's
streaming online
from 7pm, Sydney time. Dylan has
recently denied that China censored his shows
, an allegation
levelled against him by Maureen Dowd
but
opposed by Sean Wilentz.

Beware the cobweb-draped hand of the motherland.
Australian comedy troupe
The Chaser
(best known for
breaking into the APEC summit in 2007
) have been
banned from reporting on the Royal Wedding
by the Royal Family.
The Chaser respond.

Fatality!!!
Mortal Kombat has been banned in Australia.
In the highest profile censorship incident since last year's
butchering of Left 4 Dead 2
, the new Mortal Kombat game has been "refused classification by the Australian Classification Board and will not release in Australia". This should galvanize efforts to
implement an R18 rating for Australian games
, though so far
progress has been slow.
