Downloaders Pay Back Wilco Just-launched
Justafan.org allows fans who downloaded copies of the new Wilco album to donate to the band-selected charity Doctors Without Borders. In less than a day online, with nothing more than word-of-mouth publicity, donations exceeded $1,500.

Buy His Future $59,965.90 owed, $245.75 donated.
"In exchange for your donation, I will from time to time write to you about what I've done with the life you've made possible.
Make a gift, and free me to do good things with my life for this world."
It struck me as funny: have we come to a point in society where a man's future is worth the amount of his student loans?

One Day's Pay is a not-for-profit org that promotes September 11th as a "national day of voluntary service, charity, and compassion."
Why not take a few minutes or a few hours to help those in need? As an extension, we could all blog our efforts and share via trackbacks or links in the comments. In my mind, as good a way as any to commemorate a tragedy.

The Red Cross has a decade-long pattern of using local crises to raise funds, and then to spend those funds on other things. The donors had thought their money would go to help specific victims, and sometimes up to 80% would be diverted to other causes. I think this is wrong.

Eat out, Give to charity Members of the National Restaurant Association are donating proceeds from today's sales to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Tonight just might be a good night to take those you cherish out to eat to show them you love them.

Bush is at it again.
Is the fact that he is able to get away with things like this an indication of a backlash against the more
open years of Democrats in the White House?
Is this secretly what the American public wants?

Could you Blog for 24 hours straight? While some folks are happy spending a day Not Blogging, Cat over at
Frykitty is looking for people to join her in her 24 hour charity Blogathon. Sign up to blog with her or just sponsor someone. While I do think spending 24 hours at a PC is a sure sign of insanity, I can certainly respect that sort of insanity.

In the desert on the U.S.-Mexico border,
charity becomes political protest as humanitarian groups seek to put hundreds of gallons of water in the form of "watering stations" -- a few gallons of water and a blue flag -- on federal, military, private, and Indian lands.

Kansas City's Secret Santa has been handing out cash in hundred-dollar bills to needy individuals and random people during the Christmas season for the past
twenty-one years. He's completely anonymous, preferring to give joy without getting any credit. He tries to find people with specific needs and surprises them in their homes or at their jobs with the cash they need. He gives out well over ten thousand dollars every year.
