Well ladies, just when you thought you had all of your cosmetic needs taken care of, they come up with
something new. Although I'm not entirely sold on this being essential for your kit, it sure is novel. (And surprisingly not NSFW)

Before and After Cosmetic surgery was born 2,500 years ago and came of age in the inferno of the Western Front. The Great War not only gave birth to plastic surgery as a modern medical specialty but also marked a rare moment when the proponents of reconstructive or “serious” surgery and the defenders of cosmetic or “frivolous” surgery declared a truce in what would become a long and morally charged battle.

Inarguably, I think, using contact lenses solely to change the way you look (for halloween, perhaps) is a wonders-of-technology experience, one that
reached critical mass some time ago. There have been cases of permanent injury, though, and the
NY Times reports that the F.D.A. is cracking down. How great is the risk, and can it be mitigated? (Other than, you know, by actaully getting them via perscription.)

Mary Kay Ash, the founder of
Mary Kay® Cosmetics died today. It looks like they were
anticipating it. Not only did she found what grew to be a huge company(in the male-dominated 60s), she inspired people to be successful. I was never a big fan of the pink Cadillacs, but reading some of this made me a fan.
