Who Is J. Hutton "Jovan"? Good question, since on every other page on this site he calls himself "J. Hutton Pulitzer," with a prominent Joseph Pulitzer quote to imply he's family. See, he "changed his birth name ... to shake the hold he felt his "Family Name" had over his life." Gosh, was it that, or maybe the fact that under his real name, J. Jovan Philyaw, he's the bozo behind the huge CueCat boondoggle? You be the judge! After all, 'J. Hutton has created many "first".' And look at his impressive company headquarters! Oh wait, that's just an office building that remains unnamed on this page. Damn! They sure are pushing this obnoxious cuecat thing, aren't they? Informercials galore. I don't know about your area, but I can hardly turn on the tv anymore without seeing how "Digital Convergence" crap is going to better our lives. Now they're trying to give this cat thing away. Let me get this straight: you swipe the cat over any barcode, and it takes you straight to a commercial for what you just bought. No more need for silly content on the Web! Now the Internet can be nothing but banner ads 24 hours a day! Ooh! Sign me up! *rolls eyes*

Superfluous and unnecessary. The :Cue Cat reader has insinuated itself into the very fabric of the Dallas Morning News, promising links to "expanded content" and "special promotions" by using this $50 future garage sale item. Is there a real need for bar code scanners in the average household? Or is :Cue Cat merely artificially creating a need for their services?

I'm not sure whether I'll actually use it, but the :CueCat Reader that Wired Magazine sent me for free is pretty neat. It is essentially a scanner that plugs into my computer and can "read" URLs in special bar-codes on ads or any UPC or ISBN. I scanned my thesaurus and a box of paper clips. Simple things ...
