Home-recorded piano cover goodness! Harder Better Faster Stronger - Note for note and Fur Elise Slightly Different. Two surprisingly awesome piano videos in one week, I can't help but share. The dude playing Daft Punk says "This is not the Kanye version, nor is it a loose interpretation. I spent a bunch of time going through the original track and writing down every note that's there -- I hope you enjoy it!" and the Fur Elise cover starts as a rollicking jazzy/ragtime re-imagining - make sure you stick around for the B section.

With only about as much effort as manufacturing one’s own Great Pyramid of Giza, Atlanta prop-builder Harrison Krix designs and constructs his own Daft Punk–style helmet, complete with 320 red LEDs along the visor and twin cooling fans. (Delightful time-lapse making-of video [YouTube]. Design process: Part 1 ¶ Part 2 ¶ Part 3.) Now, what are you supposed to do with a prop like that? Pop it on and pose next to a DeLorean, obviously.

San Diego's 2010 Comic-Con International [YT] is so TRON-ed-out that it is being referred to as Comic-TRON. And to be fair, the new TRON Legacy trailer which debuted at this year's Con—with its CGI-powered young Jeff Bridges—almost looks good. But hype aside, for many the real star of the TRON movie is the soundtrack by robot-rock superstars Daft Punk. New tracks appeared this week.

The Star Wars cantina scene is sacred cinema, but Adidas went ahead and remade it for their current World Cup ad campaign. The new cut seamlessly combines the original footage with new shots of our favorite electro-house droids, Snoop Dogg, Noel Gallagher, Ciara, David Beckham, Ian Brown and more. It appears that Daft Punk did not remix the original cantina music, though.

Relevant after all? Daft Punk are experiencing a renaissance of sorts. Whereas it seemed only a few months ago they were washed up and out of ideas, in danger having run their persona into the ground, they can now claim to have been the undisputed highlight of the Coachella Festival, responsible for one of the most memorable rap hooks of recent years and are on their way to Cannes to attend the premiere of their first self-directed film, 'Electroma'. At the same time, their influence is the driving force behind the new wave of French electronic music. People are even starting to come around to their previously unloved third album. hint: listen to it loud.
