NPR reports about The Evangelicals Engaged In Spiritual Warfare who orchestrated Rick Perry's recent prayer rally; as previously exposed by Rachel Maddow.
According to The New Apostolic Reformation "a chain of powerful prophecies had proclaimed that Texas was 'The Prophet State. Both Michele Bachmann and Rick Perry have deep ties to a fringe fundamentalist movement known as Dominionism, which says Christians should rule the world. Dominionism means that Christians have a God-given right to rule all earthly institutions.

A released FAA investigation describes how in October last year, Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) deliberately landed his plane on a closed runway, and then caused the plane to "hop" over terrified construction workers and their vehicles. More recently, Senator Inhofe has taken to the Senate floor in praise of his friend (and friend of C Street), deposed Ivory Coast strongman Laurent Gbagbo. [Previously, previously]

Inside C Street–Six Questions for Jeff Sharlet
It’s about the Idea… the monolithic vision of fundamentalism always threatening to subsume the many lowercased ideas that constitute democracy. In Uganda, we see the Idea verging on murder, in the military, we see it gathering force, at C Street we encounter its enduring corruption.

Christian Nationalism is just one name for that ideological and aggressive species of Christianity just may be more organized, ambitious, and successful than you imagined. The dream transcends the elimination of abortion, the teaching of intelligent design, and the preservation of marriage within American politics, but instead reaches out to restore America to an imagined Christian state. Or more? "World conquest. That's what Christ has commissioned us to accomplish." Or maybe just 29% of it. But some resistance from within Christianity is starting to appear.

Battle Cry, the youth arm of the Christian Reconstructionist (also called Dominionist) movement, is holding a rally in Philadelphia this weekend. They've already had events in San Francisco & Detroit. Create your own Battle Plan or just chat with other soldiers in God's Army. But not everyone is happy about it.

The Yurica Report: "News Intelligence Analysis". It seems to be an EXTREMELY leftist website, mentioned but once before. It seems inflammatory, but a few things caught my eye. How about a "Constitution Restoration Act" that would "gut the ability of citizens to sue the government or government officials by reason of that element’s or officer’s acknowledgment of God as the sovereign source of law, liberty, or government.” Or how about "The Despoiling of America", How George W. Bush became the head of the new American Dominionist Church/State...quite an interesting take on how Neo-Conservatives are taking the idea of dominionism and sprinting with it. Inflammatory? Hell yes...but incredibly interesting nonetheless.
