In September 2009, a conference organised by the Tyndall Centre looked at this scenario, with the papers recently published in a special issue of the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society. Pr. Anderson of the Tyndall Centre suggests that only 10 percent of humanity may survive this conflagration.
Failed States Index 2009 is a collaboration between Foreign Policy and The Fund for Peace. There is an interactive map and a series of related articles including brief prognostics of future danger ahead. If you think its bad now, wait until climate change kicks in.
