Some badass eggs for this easter done in the Ukranian style called pysanky. More from last year and the year before. [via mefi projects]
Is It Art Or Is It Just Ewww? Four centuries after the first stirrings of body art and four decades after Piero Manzini's Merda d'Artista and his egg-eating sessions there is Chrissy Caviar by Chrissie Conant, complete with website and Quicktime video. A can of Manzoni's shit was recently bought for over $30000 by the Egg-sponsored Tate Gallery. For that money you could buy ten whole kilos of Royal Beluga from Petrossian costs ten times less. Difficult call.
Your new favorite artist: Pinky of Houston and her fabulous decorated eggs. Perhaps Pinky knows that geometric egg art was called pysanky in the Old Country. It later inspired a certain Russian jeweler to new heights. Pinky takes it from there as part of a modern explosion of beautiful eggs, including carved eggs that will make your jaw drop. If you can think of it, it's probably been done to an egg. The emu egg jewelry boxes are particularly elegant. Plenty more at the Egg Art Network.
