Face In Hole Do you have a face? Do you have a picture of that (or another) face? Would you like to take that face image and place it in a themed hole and display it on the screen? Maybe even save the resultant image and use it in a humorous manner, perhaps emailing it to a friend or a co-worker?

This website provides your every* inter-hole-face-image related need! *I await your snark

Faces of Battle

As Armistice Day approaches an exhibition reveals a hidden side to the horror of World War I.

It contains previously unseen images of British servicemen who suffered terrible facial injuries in the conflict.

The exhibition also tells the story of one surgeon - Harold Gillies – who through his efforts to help them became known as the father of modern plastic surgery.

WARNING: Some of the following images are of a very graphic nature.

The hypnotic beauty of the average face

The hypnotic beauty of the average face. When you average out peoples facial features, the result is strangely beautiful. Which is odd. This captivating website lets you play with facial averaging and design your own people. You can upload your own face and nudge it towards the dark-eyed loveliness that we seem programmed to desire. There are also links to theories suggesting why average people, instead of being bland, are hot. Facial averaging has been discussed before. More on facial beauty from Germany and St Andrews.

The most addicting website since The Blue

[TheFaceBook]: It comes in the genre of LiveJournal, MySpace, and Friendster - except with a focus on digitally connecting pre-existing friendships on college campuses rather than finding new friends worldwide. Subsequently, it has thus far avoided the stigmas I’ve seen attached to its predecessors by non-users. Its use has skyrocketed: about 15% of my campus has signed up since this past winter. All of it through word-of-mouth. One of the neat tricks it does is show a visualization of your friends on the network in a spider webbed vectored graphic connecting them based on their mutual friendships. It’s also proven very useful in tracking down those “where do I know him/her?” names through a prominently displayed list showing up to two-degrees of separation to the mystery person. Oh, and you can send text messages to cell phones through it. Did I mention it also reminds you of birthdays?
