The inhabitans have <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whaling_in_the_Faroe_Islands">traditionally</a> hunted <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pilot_whales">pilot whales</a> and other cetaceans for their own sustainment, but according also to their <a href="http://www.hagstova.fo/portal/page/portal/HAGSTOVAN/Statistics_%20Faroe_Islands/Faroe%20Islands%20in%20figures%202008.pdf">own national statistics </a> (PDF) , the whale hunting business is no longer a significant factor.
