Christmas in Hollis?

Breakin' III: Electric Snowshoes. (.MOV) It's not often you get to type the words Breakdancing Creationist (slightly less often than 'surfing bankrobbers). But really, this is best because of the dancing. Well, and the stoner-ific 'Stare at my hands, man' bit. Still not enough breakin' for your Friday? Another pair of performers here(embedded WMV). "well, it breaks the ice, doesn't it"

Having sweated over the origins of the universe and split the atom, academics have finally tackled the question that has perplexed mankind since the dawn of time: what are the best chat-up lines? A study from psychologists at the University of Edinburgh tested 205 people for reactions to 40 vignettes of a woman approached by a man using "verbal signals of genetic quality" in different categories, and found the best rated approaches to be those revealing character qualities, wealth and culture, although the puzzling winning line proved a flop in real life tests. Unsurprisingly, a direct request for sex received a low score. Previous findings by the Japanese proved equally dubious. But there's still hope, as the code seems to have been cracked in Dublin, where since last year "there is definitely more pulling". The secret? A smoking ban, a lot of crowded pubs, and "smirting", an unexpected side effect of the health measure.

Interesting Super Slo-Mo Video Clips

Interesting high-speed (super slow motion) video clips — including balloon videos (try water balloon thrown at face); videos of cans, bottles, and glass (try glass pane breaking); fun with food products (try egg drop and the amazing jello cube drop); and many, many, many others. (Please note: these are all smallish WMV files.)

It's not Friday and it's not Flash, but...

What do you get when you mix a fiendishly difficult and addictive puzzle game with the feel of a hack & slash RPG set in a cartoonish, slightly tongue-in-cheek fantasy world? That would be Deadly Rooms of Death (DROD for short). The game is freakin' huge, with 25 levels filled with unique rooms, and it also happens to be free.

Peekaboom!

Peekaboom! It's not Friday -- then again this isn't flash -- but it sure is fun. Partner with another anonymous player to identify pictures by gradually revealing them. The kicker is that as we play, the system gets smarter -- the goal is to teach computers how to identify photos the same way we can.

Crash the Wedding Crashers Trailer

OK, the movie, The Wedding Crashers, doesn't look all that interesting to me, but I gotta say that the Crash the Trailer viral ad that they whipped up is Awesome! You upload pictures of yourself or whomever, and they superimpose the pictures onto the faces of the stars of the movie. Very clever, or at least kind of fun for a second.

The Game of Mao

The only rule I can tell you is this one. In the vein of self-modifying games such as Nomic, 1000 Blank White Cards, Fluxx, and Cosmic Encounter, comes Mao: the game where the only way to learn the rules is by banging your head against them. Repeatedly.

Time wasting chaos is fun!

Sometimes Friday Fun doesn't have to involve Flash. Take, for example, the Random Vin Diesel Fact Page, or other existing ones, some serious, some not so serious. There's also random news generators and even random band name generators. Plenty of reloading, time-wasting fun for your Friday.

Best Holiday

Today by far is my favorite holiday. It's the one day that webmasters get to be creative and do things that normally wouldn't fit with their sites general themes. For example, Google attempts a high tech way of quenching peoples thirsts, Wikipedia sells out to Britannica, a RFC is written on Morality, and much much more!
