The most popular board game in Argentina now

The most popular board game in Argentina now is called "Deuda Eterna", Eternal Debt. It's been flying off the shelves. It has the players trying to operate South American countries which are rich in natural resources while trying to outfox the IMF. (The name is a play on "Deuda Externa", Foreign Debt, on which Argentina just stopped paying interest.)

The ultimate online community:

The ultimate online community: a massively-multiplayer online sex game. Be a dominatrix! Experiment with whips and chains! Sleep around in a place where everyone is beautiful and willing and there is no disease! Pick your own body: you can be the stud or babe of your dreams! Ah, the virtual life for me. (Why are all the samples heterosexual?) (Via Lum the Mad)

Go is better than Chess.

Go is better than Chess. (This discussion started in MetaTalk through topic drift, and it really belongs here.)

This is unquestionably

This is unquestionably going to be the next "everybody's doing it" on the Web for the next two weeks. (My ninja Sakai Saburo has already been sent on his first mission. Via Robert at CrackerJap)

At first I found Junkyard Wars (imported) and thought it was the funniest show on TV. Then I found Iron Chef (also imported) and it was even better. I got hooked. Now I've found BattleBots (homegrown! Buy American!), and I have to wonder if TV has any more pleasant surprises for me. As long as I stay away from the big networks I seem to do fine.

And now for something completely pointless...

And now for something completely pointless... Why on earth would anyone care enough about something this to invest all the time it took to pull this off? Just to break the record high score on a video game which only appears in museums now?

More than you wanted to know

More than you wanted to know about the "Tomb Raider" movie. What's weird about it all is that the timing sucks. The game has gone through five successive versions and they've used the same basic engine for all of them. These days it's looking significantly dated, and the last couple of games have gotten really poor reviews. Of course, it probably still sells well to frustrated teenage boys, but I think the last couple of games haven't sold anything like the previous ones did because it's the same old same old.

By the time the movie finally comes out, the game may already be history.

Has there ever been a movie made from a computer game which was either a commercial or critical success? "Mortal Combat" and "Super Mario Brothers" spring to mind as counter-examples.

The Sydney games make be gone, but they're not forgotten.

The Sydney games make be gone, but they're not forgotten. Now you can relive them and even pretend to participate. (But why in hell would anyone want to?)

Would someone please explain to me

Would someone please explain to me why anyone would want to play three games based on The Blair Witch Project?

For you Survivor fans,

For you Survivor fans, this is how it REALLY ought to be done. (Is anyone surprised that John "Daikatana" Romero was first to die? Who do you think will be the last man standing?)

This has gotta be a first.

This has gotta be a first. The first patch for "Diablo II" has been released one day before the product is scheduled to hit the store shelves. A new record!

Occasionally you find an absolute treasure on the web.

Occasionally you find an absolute treasure on the web. And I felt like sharing this one, though it's not topical at all. It's free and it's supercool. (So I'm a nerd. So sue me.) Requires WIN32 and a fast computer and OpenGL. But just the page itself is worth visiting even if you can't run the program.
