Open Social API, coming soon (according to techcrunch) Google will be launching it's Open Social API, designed to allow inter operation between social networks. Social networks like orkut, linkedin, friendster, sixapart (livejournal and vox) and myspace will likely be using the technology. It's supposed to be announced today (at this URL, no less)

people aren't happy about Google canceling it's API and replacing it with an AJAX search widget you're supposed to put on your page (and one that's deliberately obfuscated and difficult to extract data from). Google's obsession with secrecy isn't going unnoticed, and some employees are starting to feel like the magic is gone and they're being treated like children. Oh, and just to keep things in perspective Microsoft just filed a patent on RSS

filetype:doc For those of you who don't know, Google allows you to limit your searches to files of a certain type. It reminds me of the world wide web of '93 in a lot of ways, before the web become so commercialized and vapid. Little bits of randomness.
