The 25 Greatest Duets Of All Time (with embedded YouTube videos of each) from retroCRUSH. Duets, by nature, are a corny type of song. Sure, there's a handful that we recognize here that are also some of best tunes ever recorded, but there's something inherently cheesy and fun about duets that make them a fun guilty pleasure for millions to enjoy.

The American Film Institute decided the need for ~~more money~~ an update to their 1998 list of the 100 Greatest Movies was so pressing that they made a new list. Ebert (and friends) ask where's Fargo?. The IHT wonders why the past decade has only spawned four new, worthy movies. And, generally, no one seems super excited about it. The AIA 150 The blue has been filled over the years with "greatest" posts We all have seen the American Film Institute's 100 Greatest Movies. The 100 Greatest British Albums, the 50 Greatest Commercials of the 1980's, you name it, they've all appeared on MeFi. The American Institute of Architects has taken a different tack. Instead of relying on a "blue ribbon panel", like the AFI, and despite being the experts, the AIA took a public poll to find out what the people actually think are the Greatest American Buildings. The results are the AIA 150. The whole thing is being turned into a website and a museum exhibition which will tour the country.

The 885 All Time Greatest Songs as chosen by listeners to WXPN, the listener-supported station at 88.5 on the Philadelphia-area FM dial. WXPN ran an on-line vote, asking listeners for their top 10 all time favorites in celebration of a move to a new studio. They are playing all 885 back, in order, all this week (on air and on-line). We're up to Bobby Darin and Beyond the Sea (number 750, sandwiched between Husker Du and Jimi Hendrix) as I post this. My all time favorite, the Dead's Wharf Rat, was at 782. The site also presents the top ten lists of some of their staff and some favorite artists.

Three million Germans have voted post-war Chancellor Konrad Adenauer as the greatest German of all time. Reformation Monk Martin Luther came second, with communist philosopher Karl Marx third. Composer Johann Sebastian Bach and writer Johannes Wolfgang von Goethe were also in the running. Adolf Hitler and other Nazis were excluded from the poll.
