General Butt Naked is now a preacher of some kind of Christianity. But in his adolescence he ran a gang of soldiers in the Liberian civil war which killed, he thinks, about 20,000 civilians. They fought naked except for their army boots, crazed on drink and ganga. Before the fight they would kill children and eat their hearts. Now he claims that it was all down to evil spirits and wants forgiveness.

Cenotes (say-NO-tays), scattered across the Yucatan peninsula, vary greatly in shape and size, but are often quite beautiful in any case. Some cenotes were apparently used for ritual human sacrifice by the Mayans, and some, say scientists, contain waterlife which may be helpful in treating cancer. However, these cenotes and their connected ecosystems may be in danger if the rapid and largely unchecked development of the Maya Riviera continues.

Reality shows meet real politics as radio talk show hosts John and Ken have chosen Republican David Dreier and Democrat Joe Baca as their Political Human Sacrifices of 2004. Dreier is the chairman of the House Rules Committee who wields tremendous power. But here in Southern California, Dreier is under fire for his pro-outsourcing and pro-illegal immigration stands.

With Dreier's winning vote margin being 45,000, can one radio talk show beat the pundits and upset an entrenched incumbent? The pair will be campaigning against Dreier and Baca every day until the general election. The talk hosts might be getting a little help from, of all people, Larry Flynt's Hustler Magazine, who is in the process of working on a story that will "out" Congressman Dreier (as first reported by the blog which was previously discussed here). Dreier's challenger must be overjoyed.

US Woman Killed in Malaysia "Police believe an American woman whose remains were recently unearthed in Malaysia was used as a human sacrifice in a ritual to obtain lottery numbers from the spirits..." The article didn't say if they won. Not that it matters.
