John Ashcroft on web porn: "I am concerned about obscenity and I'm concerned about obscenity as it relates to our children". AOL's walled garden. Anyone who doesnt think that AOL will only link to AOL/Time Warner properties in the broadband future is fooling themselves.

NBCi relaunches as probably the most boring, blase portal site I've ever seen and their stock
goes up? Is it just me, or does it look like they bought the site from "Al's Do It Yourself Portals"?

Real goes subscription. A decent business model, IMHO. But with two lacking elements: 1) Too expensive ($3-5/month is better), 2) More compelling content (needs more name brands). I think a flat rate type content model could work well for video/multimedia content (the porn industry does well with it).

www.excite@home.com Anyone know how they got that domain? Which NICs are allowing "unusual" characters, and how widespread is the standard?

Internet VCR. You put in the shows you want to watch, come back, and watch it in Realplayer. Shady legally, cool geekwise.
