"Iron Chef America is more bogus than even I had imagined." Iron Chef America is a strange beast. The trans-Pacific knockoff of a beloved and quirky Japanese cooking game show (wikipedia) didn't have a very successful first attempt at localization. Love the Iron Chef? Be the Iron Chef! Some fan has reverse engineered selected Iron Chef recipes and put them on a site. As a frequently terrified fan of the show, I find them fascinating. Veal Stew Cheese Sauce, anyone? No?

At first I found Junkyard Wars (imported) and thought it was the funniest show on TV. Then I found Iron Chef (also imported) and it was even better. I got hooked. Now I've found BattleBots (homegrown! Buy American!), and I have to wonder if TV has any more pleasant surprises for me. As long as I stay away from the big networks I seem to do fine.

The Good News: Iron Chef comes to New York June 25th with a two-hour special...
The Bad News: Fuji TV is pulling a "Fox", serving C&D's to all Iron Chef fansites with "Fuji content". But what do you expect of a Japanese broadcaster who prohibited English-language subtitling of its shows?
BTW, if you feel as P.O.'ed as I do, you might want to just skip the big special and see the results here.
