The Company of Myself is a poignant, puzzle-solving Flash platform-type game featuring some gameplay mechanics reminiscent of Braid. Each level furthers the game's tale of loneliness and alone-ness. [via JiG]

Small Worlds

Small Worlds is an exploration game created by David Shute for JayisGames' Casual Gameplay Design Competition 6 (the theme this time around was "exploration"). It's short and there are no enemies to kill or items to pick up but it has faux pixelly gorgeousness and decently atmospheric music. Protip: the controls really don't like you hitting jump and moving sideways at the same time. To jump horizontally, first hit the jump key then hit the key to move sideways after.

"But father, what if Crom deserts me?" "Then Steel is your only God."

Have you ever been playing Double Dragon and just thought, "You know what would make this game better? Some gigantic swords!" Or have you ever been hacking your way through a Golden Axe game and thought to yourself, "If only I could headbutt these dudes into a fine red mist!" Then you need BO. Barbarian Onslaught: The Secret of Steel is the sequel to the simplistic hack-n-slash arena game Barbarian Onslaught. It brings expanded gameplay and an overarching quest for our hero: to find the secret of steel. If you're having trouble with the game, the E key brings up the in-game Encyclopedia. Or you can start out with the demo, which includes a slight tutorial. The techniques come at you fast and furious in the beginning, but be patient and master them all, as they all have their place. Contrary to what you might think, sometimes strategy is a barbarian's best weapon. When the numbers are against you, some swift thinking can turn an otherwise speedy death into bloody, poetic victory.

Auditorium is a musical flash game where you influence a stream of particles with gravity-based nodes.
Oiligarchy is a resource management game reminiscent of their earlier McDonald's Game. Build your empire and keep the shareholders (all old, bald, white men) happy. Social activism wrapped inside an (admittedly simplified) game! via Make sure to remain politically active by funding both sides in each election (just in case). Be cautious with your resources at the outset; there will be plenty of time to indiscriminately rape the earth later, once you have tons of money and politicians in your pocket. And, most importantly, take the time to really enjoy yourself. You deserve it. You're making a difference in the world.

Escape from Detention. It's the last day of school (well, yesterday was, technically) and you've been not just locked but trapped in the detention room; framed for a crime you didn't commit. You've got to get three crazy Canadjun youngsters out alive; but you can only succeed if you work together. Can you point and click your way toward victory? This game's fairly straightforward, but there are a few puzzles to make you scratch your head. Just about the right difficulty for a lazy Saturday afternoon. Found via jayisgames (thar be spoilers in the comments at that link).
