Did you know that kangaroos have a trifold vagina? And that as a result of this complex reproductive architecture, a kangaroo neonate emerges after only 28 days gestation, raw-looking, jellybean-sized, body essentially just a head, trunk, and forelimbs, from its mother's cloaca to climb up to her pouch? And that at this stage, the neonate can't suck, so when it finds one of her four nipples the nipple swells up inside its mouth so that it is stuck, remora-like, and can't disengage until its jaw develops further? (Post inspired by a fascinating conversation with mefite athanassiel)

Is this Joey?

Grantland writer Rembert Browne journeys into the "dark heart" of 90s nostalgia via Central Perk, the museum / tourist trap / coffee dispensary dedicated to the popular television show Friends. RIP Joey Manley

Joey Manley, founder of Modern Tales and its spinoff sites (Serializer, Graphic Smash and Girlamatic) has passed away. Manley's vision of comics as something that could provide a sustainable business model to creators didn't pan out in the long term, but did launch and/or promote the online comics careers of a number of creators, including Justin (Wonderella) Pierce, James (American Elf) Kolchaka, Roger (Fred the Clown) Langridge, Shaenon (Narbonic) Garrity, Gene (American Born Chinese) Yang, Alexander (Panel One) Danner and many more. Two American icons meeting for the first time onstage

"The most brutal, ugly, degenerate, vicious form of expression it has been my displeasure to hear," Frank Sinatra wrote of rock 'n' roll during the time of Elvis Presley. But Frank wasn't stupid... he knew his relevance was fading and if you can't beat 'em, you have to join 'em. So in 1960, Elvis Presley was welcomed home from his two year military tour by the Frank Sinatra Timex Show "Welcome Home Elvis" special. Later Sinatra said, "I'm just a singer. Elvis was the embodiment of the whole American culture."
