What happens when a Southern paleontologist falls for a creationist? According to Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally, it might go a little something like this

A web-based karaoke game that lets you pick a song, sing it with backing instrumental and vocals, track whether or not you're singing the right note at the right time, and gives you points if you do. [more inside]

One of the great virtues of the internet is the manifold ways in which it has revolutionised the arts. The postmodern works of contemporary artists Pomme & Kelly
(Google Video), when viewed together in context, form a striking example of a well-placed critique of popular culture, and modern living at large. The zeitgeisty meta-irony of their seemingly content-free interpretations of popular songs are only enhanced by the fact that, in a clever keeping with style, they blog about it as well

The New Orleans Karaoke Cam
comes to you live from Cat's Meow in New Orleans. Choose the streaming video option and you can watch and listen to the performers and sing along if you know the song! If karaoke isn't your thing, there are other cams
on the site as well. Warning: this can be a MAJOR waste of time.

Now's your chance to get with Jenna Jameson...
Okay, not really. Apparently, the new gig in Berlin, Germany as of last month is pr0n Karaoke - you and a partner (or two, or three?) get together on stage, with a movie up on the screen, and "act out" the parts being played out graphically. So.... practice your faking and get ready to go!

File this under "Karaoke Gone Horribly Wrong"
(ASF File) Maybe we all look like this after a couple drinks and a microphone in front of us. Wait, no. I'm pretty sure we don't. (Nothing sexual or anything, so work appropriate, but you'll get some stares, especially if your volume is up high.) I think the girl on the right should start touring with Andrew W. K.

Be careful how you sing "My Way"
After being ridiculed for an off-key version of My Way, the irate singer kills one heckler and wounds another. Philippine karaoke bars have begun to remove the song from their playlists as this was the climax of several violent incidents when this song was played.

Chan Marshall [Cat Power] Does Karaoke.
I realize this link has made the rounds, but I hadn't seen it mentioned on MeFi. For anyone familiar with Chan's fragile live performances, you'll love seeing this rare display of self-confidence as she covers "All Day & All of the Night" and "The Real Slim Shady" in RealAudio!

It's a DVD Player,
it's a CD player, it's an mp3 player, it's a karaoke machine! ... okay, so I probably won't use the karaoke part, but at $179.95, I had to grab the APEX AD600A DVD player. It's even got a supersecret menu so that you can change region settings... not that I would *do* that, but... you know... if you've got friends visiting from Taiwan or something...
You'll note I didn't post the link until my order was confirmed. I'm all about sharing the love, but not at the risk of having the love backordered.
