While it's hard to say when the dotcom bubble began to burst, it's now officially clear when the internet stock bubble ended,
which would be today. With the NASDAQ taking the first dip to 1996 levels, it's time to grab a
Webvan-delivered 40oz out of your orange
Kozmo-surplus bag and tip it in honor of all them
Pets who
still can't drive.

From
the ashes, rises
the phoenix. A company named WhyRunOut has taken over where Webvan left off (or they just bought my personal data from the webvan firesale). Hopefully they'll expand slowly and get profitable, it'd be nice to see Kozmo and Webvan like services come back.

Kozmo is dead. I know they weren't making much money, they spent too much on advertising, and they were eventually going to go away, but they're possibly the most convenient and useful service on the web (amazon being the only thing close). I'm sorry to see them go, they were the greatest thing in the world when you're sick or when it's too late to go out for videos and ice cream (
kozmo.com is unreachable already).

According to MSNBC, Kozmo delivers to predominantly white parts of town. This is a thorny issue all around. The company claims to target areas of high internet usage, but there's a whole host of factors that would lead to huge racial differences in those areas. I still believe one of the greatest things about the internet is that it's a place where race
really doesn't matter, but unfortunately the barriers to entry aren't exactly colorblind. MSNBC went so far as to produce
some interesting maps that support their claim pretty well though.
