Feeling horny? Here's a visual and audio guide to diesel locomotive horns
. A definitive resource.
For example, most Amtrak locomotives have a Nathan Airchime KL5A
installed. Ever hear a sick-sounding horn on a train? Don't miss the sections on When bad things happen to good horns
(Scroll down on the KL5A page for one such section). Turn your speakers up and enjoy!

Leslie Harpold Remembered
When her annual advent calendar
was not updated after December 7th people all over the web started to express concern over Leslie Harpold's
absence. Sadly it has been confirmed
that she died sometime last week. I think Leslie
would be touched to see the way friends
have spontaneously posted remembrances
of her via a medium she loved and help mold.
The hoopla gets deeper.
Upon learning that "Sarah Hubert" was a non-person, registrar AITDomains
simply canceled the registration to hoopla.com, releasing it into the wild, where it was picked up by someone from Taiwan. They gave no notice to Leslie or anyone else that I can tell, so that she had no opportunity to grab the name back for herself.
