Ever since the photo was posted on Twitter and Facebook it received a lot of attention and became extremely popular. The photograph also inspired several interesting blog posts which also became prominent in their own right. Of those “Paws, Pee and Mice: Cats among Medieval Manuscripts” by Thijs Porck and “Grumpy Cat Responds to the Medieval Cat-Print Manuscript” by Zachary Fisher deserve a special mention. Emir O. Filipović described his experience of finding the document in a blog post "Of cats and manuscripts" published on “The Appendix”."

League of Legends is an indie game inspired by the Defense of the Ancients map for Warcraft III. Two teams of five champions fight towards the enemy Nexus in three lanes of spawning minion waves. LoL has received awards from GDC, Gamespy, and IGN, and they recently launched their First Season of ranked play. Thought it's been criticized for being intensely competitive and unauthentic compared to Heroes of Newerth, the community has guides for builds, items, runes, and the growing number of champions, like recently announced Swain, the Master Tactician. Oh and did I mention it's free to play?

Long before user authentication and online validation became a thorn in the side of software pirates, copy protection techniques were a little more friendly and a little more lo-fi: packaged with Infocom's interactive fiction games, "Feelies" (primary link, click on the boxes)were assorted physical items that acted as accompanying illustrations (fake magazine covers, in-game currency, decoder slides, and even scratch-n-sniff cards for specific points during game play) to worlds made entirely from text. The thinking was that the feelies would add so much value and atmosphere that they'd encourage people to buy the games, rather than copy them. Oh, and it didn't hurt that they also frequently contained information required to complete the accompanying game. Of course, there have been other methods, ranging from the surprising, to the frustrating, to the downright cruel.
