Alas, the new iMac cannot bow before the cross. "At best, it can only give a downward nod or an upward look, and that would just communicate half-hearted politeness rather than an attitude of worship." So says the editor of the Christian Macintosh Users Group. Love Jesus, but not Jobs? No problem - this list of Christian computer users groups has you covered. And hey - Neo/Luddites? Even if you've left the web behind, the web hasn't left you behind.

MeFites, when you're not bowing before the blue, what's your favorite site that melds the sacred with the techno-profane?

Has hell frozen over?

An article at robgalbraith.com, a digital photography site, has sparked a fascinating discussion of the merits of Macs vs. those of PC's, as they apply to digital photography. Actually, the article and discussion aren't terribly interesting, but the fact that the discussion is a mutually beneficial exchange of ideas and opinions and not a take-no-prisoners flamewar, is.

Is anyone else getting their panties into a wad over the upcoming (8 days) MacWorld Expo? Apple is closing the gap and gaining market share; how nice would it be to see them release a knockout punch with some new hardware?

Is OS X really going to work?

Is OS X really going to work? I've been a Mac tech for almost 6 years now and I feel that OSX is a very risky endeavor for Apple. It's weird and users don't like it - I'm talking about companies who rely on Mac, not developers or the "power users" who always adopt early. Not one single client of mine is interested in learning a new OS or buying all new software (and hardware) for the privilege of learning that new OS. It seems to me that production departments and agencies have too many deadlines to meet to futz with learning curves, slow apps in OS9, and myriad other issues. Does anyone else get this feedback from clients? Wouldn't it be just as easy to give in and switch to PeeCee, like many of the departments I support are being pushed to anyway? What do you guys think about OSX and Apple's future?

Opera Technical Preview 1 for Mac out Thursday

Opera Technical Preview 1 for Mac out Thursday I like iCab, honest. But until the other day, I'd completely forgotten about these guys. I'm pleased that they haven't forgotten about my peeps.

The Strong Colo(u)r Classic

The Strong Colo(u)r Classic One keeps running across coverage of the cult of the Macintosh Color Classic. Imagine stuffing a G3 parentboard and a CD-ROM into one of those wee chunks o' sculpture. Or stop imagining and go do it. (Second article.) Note: Some Strong Color Classic fan sites crash every browser I have, even iCab. Too strong for the Web, perhaps.

22% of McSweeneys.com visitors are using Macs

22% of McSweeneys.com visitors are using Macs which is more proof that the more intelligent your content, the more diverse your user agents. Or something. (More Mac users read Suck and Salon?)
