World (er... MLB) Champions once more. The last time the Boston Red Sox
lost was in the 86
World Series. The last time they won was 86 Years Ago, when they beat the
Chicago Cubs in the 1918 World
Series. (The Cubs finished that season with 86
wins.) This year, after retiring the Anaheim Angels 8-6,
they lost three straight to the New
York Yankees in the ALCS
and seemed to be on the verge of failing
once
again. Eight straight wins later, they finally manage to eighty-six
the Curse of the
Bambino.

Expos declare independence from MLB.
"The grim, bleached-blonde visage of Richie Sexson will serve as a warning to all opponents who attempt to subvert the revolution or phone the bullpen," said Expos second baseman/People’s Minister of Security Jose Vidro.
Few humor sites on the web are truly funny, but The Spitter has a high batting average.

Major League Baseball returned to the field last night and tonight with the American flag on the back of team uniforms, below the neck and on the batting helmets. But MLB players come from nations all over the world. Is there a problem with these players being required to wear an American flag when they would not be permitted to wear their own?

Farewell to another free lunch... Streamed baseball radio is an interesting microcosm of the web's development. It started with a few forward-looking local stations taking the initiative and unilaterally offering a live stream; then it went under the auspices of Broadcast.com; now RealNetworks and MLB Inc. have tied up the subscription deal. A touchstone for other online content?
