Our American Pravda.
A provocative essay on the flaws of the American media by the editor and publisher of the American Conservative, Ron Unz
allusions to conspiracy theories
condemnation of Soviet spies (and a kind word for Joe McCarthy),
criticism of the FBI,
approving quotations of Paul Krugman,
fresh questions about the moral character of John McCain and his fitness for office,
disapproving descriptions of the Obama administration as "Bush's thrid term,"
and a broadside against the selling of the Iraq war calling it the "greatest strategic disaster in United States history." [more inside]

“War Made Easy"
is a documentary with Sean Penn narrating, and is based on a book
by Norman Solomon
. This is an award winning expose on how the American Public has been led into a 50-year pattern of government deception and spin, dragging the United States from one war into another
. Remarkably this film exhumes archival footage of official distortion
and exaggeration from LBJ to
George W. Bush
, revealing in stunning detai
l how the American news media
have uncritically disseminated
the pro-war messages of successive presidential administrations. Brutally persuasive this film presents disturbing examples of propaganda
from those we want to believe in.

Reading With the Enemy
- "Inspired by Supersize Me
: What if you spent one month reading, listening to, and watching only right-wing media. No New York Times, no NPR, no network news, no CNN, no lefty blogs, no liberal novels. Nothing left-wing or centrist, and nothing ‘objective.’ Nothing that makes up the world you currently inhabit."

Whether you like your news right or your news left
, there are watchers watching those who report. Anyone have more examples of those who keep an eye on journalists? Does it change anyone's thinking when they discover that the story they read was, for example, written by Jayson Blair, or has the damage already been done?
