I recently rode the Falkirk Wheel, perhaps the least well known of a number of UK projects marking the Millenium, which fuse stunning design with ingenious engineering. [more inside]

What ever happened to ultraprosperity? This 1999 article written on the middle of dotcom stocktopia may make you laugh, cry or keep scratching your head, at least. Now, where's the "ultraprosperity" we were promised when we need it the most - right now- us balancing in the verge of recession, burst bubbles and nonstop layoffs?

London's Millennium Dome for sale, or at least its contents, which are being auctioned today at bargain-basement prices (view live online here.) Meanwhile former Dome boss PY Gerbeau, hoping to buy the attraction itself, wins an injunction to remove hundreds of items from the auction. This photostory shows the carnage as the Dome's insides are ripped out in preparation for this year's biggest yard sale: a sad and humiliating end.

Here's a site that has screencaps of all the Y2K errors found on popular websites. It all goes back to a client side dating done with javascript, using the getYear() functions. Turns out that after 2k, the date is reported as four digits instead of two. I try to stick with server side solutions instead.

Urge everyone to upgrade their browsers. Why? Well many of the older browsers out there have Y2K problems.
