For nearly 20 years, Newfoundland group Great Big Sea have been creating acoustic Celtic folk-rock covers and interpretations of traditional Newfoundland and Labrador sea shanties, folk, fishing and party songs, which draw from the island's rich 500-year-old multicultural (Irish, English, Scottish and French) heritage. AllMusic: "If you think you've figured out Great Big Sea's formula, you're right: take sea shanties, fishing songs, and the odd original tune that sounds like a folk song and deliver them all with lusty energy on acoustic instruments. If the Pogues had come from Newfoundland and treated alcohol as a peripheral rather than a central concern, and if their singer were big and burly rather than dissolute and disgusting, you'd have something very much like Great Big Sea." Starring Porter Wagoner and the Wagonmasters with Speck Rhodes and Norma Jean The Porter Wagoner Show, a syndicated country-music variety show, aired from 1960 to 1981 with 686 thirty-minute episodes produced. Porter, with his trademark Nudie suits, performed on each program.

From 1960 through 1965 the star of the show, other than Porter, was Pretty Miss Norma Jean

In 1965 Norma Jean left the show and was replaced by a then unknown 20 year old from Tennesse - Dolly Parton.

Dolly and Porter enjoyed tremendous success with a series of duets.

While their song Always may be forever enshrined in the minds of a generation of Adult Swim fans as the theme to the online game Robot Unicorn Attack, 80's synth-pop duo Erasure are still around, touring and putting out albums after 26 years.

Their 14th studio album, Tomorrow’s World, was released in the UK on Monday (October 11 in the U.S.), along with an official video for its first released song, When I Start To (Break It All Down). A (better) non-autotuned version labeled "Rehearsal Video" is on YouTube. (An abbreviated history of their work, with official music videos and links to several concerts, can be found within.) (OK, perhaps not so abbreviated.) ;) Background Erasure was formed in 1985, after former Depeche Mode, Yazoo and The Assembly band member Vince Clarke decided to form his own band. "Bell has said being so open about his sexuality meant they only remained an underground dance act in the US telling Spin magazine, "If I'd never said I was gay I think Erasure would've taken off years ago in America." During the show's history Mystery Science Theater did many musical bits. Topless Robot recently linked to the "13 best" Mystery Science Theater 3000 songs. It's not a bad list, although there are some notable exclusions. About those, click through.... But why rely on that Topless Robot list when you have THIS, which is not a complete list of every song or substantial song reference MST ever did, but is the great majority of them. Especially good bits are marked with an asterisk. Many of these are direct links inside MST3K episodes on YouTube; it's up to you to close those when the song is done (or alternatively, why not keep watching, won't you?).
