A team of scientists from Yale University and the up-and-coming Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology in South Korea have managed to fabricate intricate electrical contacts to produce a transistor from a benzene molecule. [more inside]

The Nano-Road is paved with gold.

Rice University built these single-molecule vehicles which measure just 4x3 nanometers and have four buckyball wheels connected to four independently rotating axles and a organic chemical chassis. They're also building a "nanotruck" which uses nitrogen atoms to be able to carry a payload.

Wee tiny stuff never fails to fascinate. Photomicrography makes the commonplace seem outlandish and the beloved seem alien. Sometimes it's just as good as traveling. Do yourself a favor: admire something small today. You may have to count on it tomorrow.
