Punishing your body is not taking care of it.

I don’t mean that you shouldn’t strive for health in 2016, if health is what’s important to you. But a number on a scale is not health. A dress size is not health. Work with your body, not against it. This isn’t some radical tenet of fat-acceptance either – any life coach, self-help guru, or even personal trainer will tell you the same: set reachable goals. Don’t set yourself up for failure. [more inside]

The End of December

"Besides, there’s little left to say about 2015, barring wide-scale revolution in the next few days, the apocalyptic sweep. And 2016 is nothing. It is currently meaningless. History will soon have its way with 2016 but, for now, the year is unknown, spotless, full of hope. The new year is always immediately defiled, like footsteps upon untouched snow, on January 1. Maybe this is why we celebrate on December 31, only for a few hours in the approach to midnight, when History and its incessant scribbling is paused." (slCatapault)

Brian Butterfield's Christmas.

Holiday season getting you down? Perhaps knowing how Brian Butterfield spent Christmas might cheer you up. Bonus feature: the full Peter Serafinowicz 2008 Christmas special, part 1, part 2, part 3. Previously, Brian Butterfield's netsight. Profoundly not safe for work.
